How to Make New Friends in Dallas (as an adult)

Trying to make new friends as an adult can be exhausting, awkward and anxiety inducing. And that, my friends, is the opinion of an extrovert! But there is a silver lining in this situation. You are not alone. Between a booming job market, sprawling nightlife and winning professional sports teams, people are moving to Dallas every day. So perhaps you just moved to Dallas and don’t know a soul. Or you found yourself coming up for air from a relationship only to find all your friends have popped out babies and moved to the burbs. Maybe you’ve lived here all your life and just want to meet new people. Whatever the reason, let us introduce you to a couple of groups that will reinvigorate your social life.

For those that like to sweat

Dallas Sport & Social Club

Sweat and booze are at the bedrock of any solid friendship. So join a team; go get sweaty and then close down a bar. Whether your goal is to get a workout, socialize or potentially find yourself a new honey, Dallas Sport & Social has you covered. Sports offered run the gamut with the likes of kickball, soccer and sand volleyball to bar games, corn hole and pub runs. Co-ed and level of competitiveness vary.

For those that like to network

Dallas Junior Chamber of Commerce

This organization has been a socializing and networking staple in Dallas for decades. There is no shortage of official and unofficial events all over Dallas. From monthly happy hours, professional development opportunities to annual signature events like Taste, Christmas in July, BEEP and Johnny Sides. With DJCC, you are sure to have a full calendar of social events. While the organization can sometimes swing younger, it is one of the most connected groups in the city. So if this organization isn’t a match for your networking needs, someone there can definitely point you in the right direction.

For those that like to give back

BvB Dallas

Going into its 10th year, BvB Dallas has changed summer time fun as we know it. This organization is known for throwing large scale social events (think pool parties and concerts) culminating in an epic blondes versus brunettes powder puff football game at the Cotton Bowl stadium, all with the purpose of raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research. BvB Dallas has raised over $2.3 million since its first powder puff game back in 2008. So while fun and new friends are the by-product, fundraising is priority numero uno. Go all in and enlist as a player (ladies) or a coach (guys) and fundraise your way to your best summer yet.
